George Barrow

George was born in 1797 in Bolton and his baptism took place on December 25th, 1797 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

Birth Notes
- George was born about 1795-7, but it was 1801 (1841 census), 1802 (1851 census) and 1805 (1861 census). After changing from being a Chemist to Beer Seller by 1871 he back to being born about 1878.

George is no longer alive.

General Notes
- Possible BARROW children include Jonathan, James and Elizabeth, all whom married at Ainsworth Christchurch 1840-42 (same as son John and Happy Mather).
  
  From 1822 George was a Little Bolton, a weaver and chemist (vitriol maker) when the children were baptised, but was at Great Leaver in 1827 and 1829 when Richard and Eliza were baptised (and a labourer). From 1834 to 1845 George is in Little Bolton again a Chemist and Vitriol Maker, and at St Helens in 1857.
  
  In 1841, George (40) was a Chemist at Latham Place, Little Bolton with wife Nancy (37), John (19) and Mary (11). The folling census page seems to suggest another 9 children aged 18 years down to 9 months) but they seem out of order so may not be the BARROW family.

- From 1822 to 1825 George's occupation was Weaver part time in Little Bolton.

  From 1823 to after 1847 his occupation was Chemist & Vitrol Maker part time in Little Bolton.
  - Occupation Notes
    - 1823 George was a vitriol maker on Marg't baptism. Also In 1841, George was a Chemist at Latham Place, Little Bolton. Baptism records thru to 1847 show George a Chemist or Vitriol Maker, 1847 being at St Helens.
