Ingeborga was born about 1099 in Kiev, Ukraine.  Ingeborga's father was Grand Duke Harold Mstislav I of Kiev and her mother was Kristina Ingesdottir of Sweden.  Her paternal grandfather was Grand Duke Vladimir Monomachus ("Monomakh") II of Kiev and her paternal grandmother is Princess Gytha of England; her maternal grandfather was King Inge ("the Elder") Stenkilsson I of Sweden and her maternal grandmother is Christina. She had three brothers and a sister, named Izyaslav, Vsevolod Gavriil, Rostistav I Mikhail and Mariya Agafiya.  She is the second oldest of the five children. She had two half-sisters named Euphrosyne and Elena.


Ingeborga's family with Duke Knut Lavard Eriksson of South Jutland

‌Ingeborga and Knut Lavard were married in a religious ceremony about 1118.  They had a son named Valdemar.
