Her paternal grandparents were William II le Breton d'Aubigny Earl of Sussex and Maud or Matilda de St. Hilary du Harcouet; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Keveliok (3Rd Earl) De Meschines and Bertrade d'Evreux Montfort. She had two brothers and six sisters, named William IV de, Hugh, Cecily, Isabella, Colette, Cicely, Maud and Isabella. She was the third youngest of the nine children.
