William II le Breton d'Aubigny Earl of Sussex 
William II le Breton was born in 1139 in Arundel Castle,Arundel,West Sussex,England.1 William II le Breton's father was William Stronghand d'Aubigny Earl of Arundel, Lincoln and Sussex and his mother was Adeliza De Brabant [Queen 0f England]. His paternal grandparents were William de Albini d'Aubigny Pincerna and Maud Le Bigod; his maternal grandparents were " Barbatus the Bearded" Duke of Lorraine, Count of Leuven and Brabant, Duke of Lower Lotharingen Godfrey I and Countess Of Namur Clementia. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Godfrey, Simon Pincerna, Reynor, Henry, Alice, Olivia, Matilda and Agatha. He was the second oldest of the nine children. The house of Albini continued as Earls of Sussex and lords of Arundel, Rising and Buckenham until 1243. William de Albini III, son and heir to William II, married another widow, this time the former wife of Roger de Clare, thus establshing a connection with an East Anglian baronial family even greater than the Bigod Earls of Norfolk. He died in 1193 and was succeeded by William IV, his son and heir. [Castle Rising, p. 15]
