Lucinda Best

Lucinda was born on November 23rd, 1812 in Edgecombe Co. NC.  Lucinda's father was William Best and her mother was Penelope Edmondson.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Henry Best and Sarah Jane Alexander; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Edmondson and Ann Howard. She had a brother and five sisters, named Calvin, Elizabeth, Amy, Nance, Julia and Sally.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 61 on March 24th, 1874.  She was buried in W.J. Mayo Graveyard, Located In The Coakley Section A Few Miles From Tarboro, NC.

‌Lucinda and Reuben were married in a religious ceremony on December 19th, 1835 in Edgecombe Co. NC.  They had five sons and five daughters, named Frederick A., William A., Thomas L., John, R. Hardy, Martha A., Lydia, Frances, Elizabeth and Sallie Lucinda.
