Robert E. Lee was born on February 25th, 1871 in Pike Co., AL.1 Robert E. Lee's father was John Eager Howard Rushing and his mother was Eliza Jane Jenerett. His paternal grandparents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann Rushing; his maternal grandparents were Elias G. Jenerett and Ann Eliza Thomas. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William E., Joseph Johnston, Francis Jack, James D., Francis Adeline, Mary, Ida Lizzie, Hortense and Lottie. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 85 on May 12th, 1956 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX.1 General Notes

RUSHING, R. L., 84, native of Troy died in a San Antonio hospital
Saturday. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Amelia Stroud Rushing, four
sons, John R. Rushing, Seattle, Washington; Ralph R. Rushing Montgomery;
Jennings Rushing and Woodrow Rushing, both of San Antonio; two daughters,
Mrs. Nell Ridlehoover, San Antonio; Mrs. Dot Dailey, Montgomery; a
brother Jack Rushing; a sister, Mrs. John Redmond, both of Troy. Burial
will be in San Antonio, Monday. Montgomery Advertiser, 14 May 1956.
