Alice was born in 1352 in Arundel Castle, Sussex. Alice's father was Sir Richard Fitzalan II Earl of Arundel and her mother was Eleanor Plantagenet of Lancaster. Her paternal grandparents were Sir Edmund Fitzalan Earl of Arundel and Alice de Warenne; her maternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet Earl of Lancaster and Maud de Chaworth. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Richard Fitzalan III, Sir John Fitzalan de Arundel, Thomas de Arundel, Joan, Eleanor and Elizabeth.
