Roger de Mortimer was born in 1231 in Cwmaron Castle, Radnorshire, Wales.  Roger de Mortimer's father was Ralph de Mortimer Baron Wigmore and his mother was Gwladus Ddu "the Dark verch Llywelyn Fawr.  His paternal grandparents were Roger de Mortimer Baron Wigmore and Millicent de Ferrers; his maternal grandparents were Llywelyn Fawr ap Iorwerth Prince of Wales and Tangwystl Goch verch Llywarch of Rhos. He had three brothers named Hugh, John and Peter.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 51 on October 27th, 1282 in Kingsland, Herefordshire, England.


Roger de Mortimer's family with Maud de Braose

‌Roger de Mortimer and Maud were married in a religious ceremony in 1247 in England.  They had five sons and two daughters, named Ralph, Sir Edmund de Mortimer, Geoffrey, Roger, William, Isabella and Isolde (Iseude).
