Eleanor was born in Grismond Castle, Monmouth, England. Eleanor's father was Henry Plantagenet Earl of Lancaster and her mother was Maud de Chaworth. Her paternal grandparents were Edmund Crouchback Plantagenet Earl Leicester and Blanche Capet de Artois; her maternal grandparents were Sir Patric de Chaworth II Lord Kidwillyin and Isabella de Beauchamp. She had a brother and five sisters, named Henry de Grosment, Blanche, Maude, Joan (Joanna), Isabel and Mary. She died in Arundel Castle, West Sussex.General Notes
