Richard I was born on September 8th, 1157 in Beaumont Palace,Oxford,England.  Richard I's father was King Henry II Plantagenet Of England and his mother was Duchess Eleanor De Aquitaine.  His paternal grandparents were Count Geoffrey V (The Fair) Plantagenet Of Anjou and Empress Matilda De Normandy Of The Holy Roman Empire, Queen Of England; his maternal grandparents were Duke William X (The Toulousan) De Poiters Of Aquitaine and Eleanor De La Roche Of Chatellerault. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Geoffrey IV, Lackland, Henry, Matilda, Eleanor and Joan. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Longespee, Hugh, Richard, Geoffrey, Peter, Morgan, Matilda, Mary and Alisa.  He died at the age of 41 on April 6th, 1199 in Chalis,Limousin,France; wounded by crossbow bolt in battle.
