Matilda was born in June 1156.  Matilda's father was King Henry II Plantagenet Of England and her mother was Duchess Eleanor De Aquitaine.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Geoffrey V (The Fair) Plantagenet Of Anjou and Empress Matilda De Normandy Of The Holy Roman Empire, Queen Of England; her maternal grandparents were Duke William X (The Toulousan) De Poiters Of Aquitaine and Eleanor De La Roche Of Chatellerault. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, Richard I, Geoffrey IV, Lackland, Henry, Eleanor and Joan. She had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Longespee, Hugh, Richard, Geoffrey, Peter, Morgan, Matilda, Mary and Alisa.  She died at the age of 33 in 1189.

‌Matilda and Henry were married in a religious ceremony in Minden Cathedral,Saxony,Germany.  They had two sons named Otto IV and Willaim.
