Martha was born in 1726 in New Castle County,Delaware. Martha's father was Casparius Garretson and her mother was Ann Cox. Her paternal grandparents were Jan ("John") Garretson Vanderhoff and Ann Thayer; her maternal grandparents were John I Cox and Rachel Harlan. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Joseph, Rebecca, Ann and Naomi. She had a half-brother named Nathan. She died at the age of 55 in 1781 in Randolph County,North Carolina. She was buried in Holly Springs,Chatham,NC.General Notes
