Casparius was born in 1676 in Gelderland,Holland. Casparius' father was Jan ("John") Garretson Vanderhoff and his mother was Ann Thayer. His paternal grandparents were Garrit Janson Vanderhoff and Gertrude Jacobs; his maternal grandparents were Richard Thayer and Dorothy De Mortimer. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Garrett, Cornelius, Rebecca, Mary and Unknown. He died at the age of 50 on December 3rd, 1726 in New Castle DE.
