William Brooke Toler 
William Brooke was born on May 8th, 1844 in Henderson Co., Illinois. William Brooke's father was William Payne Toler and his mother was Mariah Anderson Taliaferro. His paternal grandparents were Anderson Toler and Lucy Smith; his maternal grandparents were Robert Brooke Taliaferro and Cecelia A. Ellett. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Robert Anderson, Thaddeus Coleman, Zerriah Smith, Benjamin Alpheus, Edwin Philetus, Milner M., Lucy Ann, Bertha Payne, Mildred Ora and Ida Ellen. He was the third oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 18 on January 19th, 1863.-
