Ida Ellen was born on May 8th, 1862 in Henderson Co., Illinois. Ida Ellen's father was William Payne Toler and her mother was Mariah Anderson Taliaferro. Her paternal grandparents were Anderson Toler and Lucy Smith; her maternal grandparents were Robert Brooke Taliaferro and Cecelia A. Ellett. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Robert Anderson, William Brooke, Thaddeus Coleman, Zerriah Smith, Benjamin Alpheus, Edwin Philetus, Milner M., Lucy Ann, Bertha Payne and Mildred Ora. She was the youngest of the eleven children.-
