John Fox Dalton 
John was born on November 15th, 1852. John's father was David Nicholas Dalton and his mother was Margaret Melissa Rives. His paternal grandparents were Absolom Bostic Dalton and Nancy Poindexter; his maternal grandparents were William Alston Rives and Frances H Smith. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Robert, Rufus, David, Walter, Frances, Nancy and Margaret. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Charles, Marshall, John, Oscar, Alfred, Georgia, Cora and Bertha. He died at 5 months old on April 16th, 1853.-
