Nancy was born on October 20th, 1857.  Nancy's father was David Nicholas Dalton and her mother was Margaret Melissa Rives.  Her paternal grandparents were Absolom Bostic Dalton and Nancy Poindexter; her maternal grandparents were William Alston Rives and Frances H Smith. She had six brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Robert, Rufus, David, Walter, Frances and Margaret.  She was the sixth oldest of the nine children. She had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Charles, Marshall, John, Oscar, Alfred, Georgia, Cora and Bertha.  She died at the age of 89 in January 1947.
