David was born on January 15th, 1781.  David's father was David Dalton Sr and his mother was Susanna Davis.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Dalton Sr and Anne. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Isaac, Isham, Jonathan, Charles, Elizabeth, Eliza, Nancy, Mary, Nancy and Susanna.  He was the youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 66 in 1847.
