William Absalom Dalton 
William was born on December 18th, 1849. William's father was David Nicholas Dalton and his mother was Margaret Melissa Rives. His paternal grandparents were Absolom Bostic Dalton and Nancy Poindexter; his maternal grandparents were William Alston Rives and Frances H Smith. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert, Rufus, David, Walter, Frances, Nancy and Margaret. He was the oldest of the nine children. He had six half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Charles, Marshall, John, Oscar, Alfred, Georgia, Cora and Bertha. He died at the age of 14 on October 28th, 1864.-
