David was born on September 2nd, 1826.  David's father was Absolom Bostic Dalton and his mother was Nancy Poindexter.  His paternal grandparents were David Dalton Jr and Christina Bostick; his maternal grandparents were David Poindexter and Frances Pope Johnson.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 68 on June 14th, 1895.
