Mary Emma was born on November 28th, 1861 in Cheroke Co.,TX. Mary Emma's father was Benjamin Preston Riddle and her mother was Mary Ann Bass. Her paternal grandparents were Alexander Riddle and Mary Bynum; her maternal grandparents were Willis Jordan Bass and Elizabeth Lillian (Betsy) Hardin. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named John Byrum, Alexander Willis, Nicholas Buchanan, Benjamin T., William H., Jordon G., Robert E. Lee, Charles H., Mattie and Effie. She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 87 on April 24th, 1949 in Van Zandt Co.,TX.-
