Robert I of Dreux was born in 1123 in Dreux, Eure-et-Loir, Orleanais, France.  Robert I of Dreux's father was King Louis VI of France (The Fat) and his mother was Cts. Adelaideof Savoy.  His paternal grandparents were King Philippe I of France (The fair) and Bertha of Holland; his maternal grandparents were Ct. Humbert II of Savoy (Il grosso (the fat)) and Cts. Gisele of Bourgogne. He had two brothers named Pierre I of France and The Young.  He died at the age of 65 on October 11th, 1188 in Braine, Champagne, France.  He was buried in Braine, Champagne, France.
