Gerart Aartsen was born in September 1734 and his baptism took place on September 5th, 1734 in Harderwijk.1  Gerart Aartsen's father was Aart Klaaszn Foppen and his mother was Geertjen Petersdr  N.N..  His paternal grandparents were Claes Aartszn Foppen and Jannetje Petersdr N.N.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Klaas Aartsen, Klaas Aartsen, Claas Aartsen, Jannetje Aartse and Aaltje Claasdr.  He is the youngest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Claas Aartszn, Peter Aartszn, Goossen Aartszn, Goossen Aartszn, Aertjen Aartsdr and Geertruijd Aartze.
