Geertruijd Aartze was born in September 1738 and her baptism took place on September 19th, 1738 in Harderwijk.1  Geertruijd Aartze's father was Aart Klaaszn Foppen and her mother was Albertje Aartsdr N.N..  Her paternal grandparents were Claes Aartszn Foppen and Jannetje Petersdr N.N.. She had four brothers and a sister, named Claas Aartszn, Peter Aartszn, Goossen Aartszn, Goossen Aartszn and Aertjen Aartsdr.  She was the second oldest of the six children. She had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Klaas Aartsen, Klaas Aartsen, Claas Aartsen, Gerart Aartsen, Jannetje Aartse and Aaltje Claasdr.
