Claas Aartsen was born in March 1729 and his baptism took place on March 25th, 1729 in Harderwijk.1  Claas Aartsen's father was Aart Klaaszn Foppen and his mother was Geertjen Petersdr  N.N..  His paternal grandparents were Claes Aartszn Foppen and Jannetje Petersdr N.N.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Klaas Aartsen, Klaas Aartsen, Gerart Aartsen, Jannetje Aartse and Aaltje Claasdr.  He is the fourth oldest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Claas Aartszn, Peter Aartszn, Goossen Aartszn, Goossen Aartszn, Aertjen Aartsdr and Geertruijd Aartze.
