Richard was born in 1707 in Great Sampford, Essex and his christening took place on October 19th, 1707 in St Michael, Great Sampford, Essex.1 2   Richard's father was William Hockley and his mother was Mary Bentley.  His paternal grandparents were William Hockley and Anne Chapman. He had five brothers and six sisters, named William, John, John, James, Daniel, Johanna, Mary, Susanna, Ann, Sarah and Grace.  He was the second oldest of the twelve children.  He died in 1707 in Great Sampford, Essex.  He was buried on December 16th, 1707 in St Michael, Great Sampford, Essex.2 1
