William Groves

William was born in March 1876 in Chillerton, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.¹ William's father was George Burnett Groves and his mother was Charlotte Saunders. His paternal grandparents were William Groves and Jane Barnett. He had five brothers and three sisters, named George, James, Alfred, Walter, Ernest, Elizabeth, Ada and Elsie. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
