George Burnett Groves

George was born on May 10th, 1832 in Whippingham, Isle of Wight and his christening took place there on June 10th, 1832.¹ George's father was William Groves and his mother was Jane Barnett. His paternal grandparents were James Groves and Mary Chiverton. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Henry, Reuben, Charles, Jane, Jane and Elizabeth. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 84 in December 1916 in Isle of Wight. He was buried on December 24th, 1916 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.²³
