Ann was born in 1698 in Gatcombe, Isle of Wight and her christening took place there on December 4th, 1698.1 2   Ann's father was John Newnham and her mother was Martha Taylor. She had a brother and two sisters, named Parnell, Martha and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
