James Henry Groves

James was born in March 1874 in Chillerton, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight and his christening took place on March 29th, 1874 in United Methodist, Newport Circuit, Isle of Wight.¹² James' father was George Burnett Groves and his mother was Charlotte Saunders. His paternal grandparents were William Groves and Jane Barnett. He had five brothers and three sisters, named George, William, Alfred, Walter, Ernest, Elizabeth, Ada and Elsie. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
