Alfred Charles Groves

Alfred was born in March 1878 in Chillerton, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight and his christening took place on December 29th, 1878 in United Methodist, Newport Circuit, Isle of Wight.¹² Alfred's father was George Burnett Groves and his mother was Charlotte Saunders. His paternal grandparents were William Groves and Jane Barnett. He had five brothers and three sisters, named George, James, William, Walter, Ernest, Elizabeth, Ada and Elsie. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 61 in 1939. He was buried on June 24th, 1939 in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight.³
