Elsie Ruth Groves

Elsie was born in June 1889 in Chillerton, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight and her christening took place on May 30th, 1889 in United Methodist, Newport Circuit, Isle of Wight.¹² Elsie's father was George Burnett Groves and her mother was Charlotte Saunders. Her paternal grandparents were William Groves and Jane Barnett. She had six brothers and two sisters, named George, James, William, Alfred, Walter, Ernest, Elizabeth and Ada. She was the youngest of the nine children.
