George William Groves

George was born in March 1872 in Newport, Isle of Wight and his christening took place on April 10th, 1872 in United Methodist, Newport Circuit, Isle of Wight.¹² George's father was George Burnett Groves and his mother was Charlotte Saunders. His paternal grandparents were William Groves and Jane Barnett. He had five brothers and three sisters, named James, William, Alfred, Walter, Ernest, Elizabeth, Ada and Elsie. He was the third oldest of the nine children.
