William Cannings

William was born in 1797 in Great Wishford, Wiltshire and his baptism took place there on September 24th, 1797.¹ William's father was Thomas Cannings and his mother was Sarah Brown. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Cannings and Ann Austence; his maternal grandparents were John Brown and Sarah Tubb. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, Thomas, Solomon, James, Daniel, Mary, Harriet, Elizabeth and Sarah. He was the second oldest of the ten children.
