Ann was born in 1746 in Laverstock, Wiltshire and her baptism took place there on November 19th, 1746.1  Ann's father was Daniel Austence and her mother was Martha Amer.  Her maternal grandparents were John Amer and Mary. She had a brother and three sisters, named Daniel, Martha, Elizabeth and Elizabeth.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
