Martha was born in 1710 in Laverstock, Wiltshire and her christening took place there on January 17th, 1710.1   Martha's father was John Amer and her mother was Mary. She had a brother and four sisters, named Edward, Mary, Edith, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the six children.
