Edward was born in 1713 in Laverstock, Wiltshire and his christening took place there on March 25th, 1713.1 2   Edward's father was John Amer and his mother was Mary. He had five sisters named Martha, Mary, Edith, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
