Edith was born in 1718 in Laverstock, Wiltshire and her christening took place there on December 17th, 1718.1 2   Edith's father was John Amer and her mother was Mary. She had a brother and four sisters, named Edward, Martha, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
