John was born in 1737 in Great Wishford, Wiltshire and his baptism took place there on September 29th, 1737.1   John's father was John Brown and his mother was Martha Morris.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Brown and Ann; his maternal grandparents were John Morris and Martha Hill. He had three brothers and a sister, named Elijah, William, Richard and Martha.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 54 on January 31st, 1791.  He was buried on February 1st, 1791.1
