John was born on March 29th, 1395 in Dartington, Devon, England. John's father was John de Holland and his mother was Elizabeth Plantagenet of Lancaster. His paternal grandparents were Thomas de Holland and Joan Plantagenet the Fair Maid of Kent; his maternal grandparents were John Plantagenet of Gaunt and Blanche Plantagenet of Lancaster. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Constance and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 52 on August 5th, 1447. He was buried in St. Katherine by the Tower, London, England.General Notes
