Marriage
1938 (Huddersfield)
Lives with: In 1841, Hannah was living with her daughter Eliza Halfpenny at New Laith Hill, Longley (about 1 mile East of Newsome).
Neighbor: In 1841, Hannah Liversidge (65) and William and Sarah Dransfield were neighbours at New Laith Hill.
Relative of: Paul was a probable grandson of Paul Kinder.
1768 - 1855
Mary
Kinder
86
86
Father William of Dungeon, Clothier. This must be right as Daniel Crosland's father Jonathan and uncle Joseph were also from Dungeon (near Butternab). Joseph son of William baptised the same year must be another family.
The 1841 census has a Mary Crossland, Shopkeeper in Tong. Could this be her?
In 1851, Mary is still alive in Blase Hill, Huddersfield (where she later died). She has her two nieces Elizabeth (49) and Sarah (45) Crosland with her, with a two servants: cook and housemaid.
1741
William
Kinder
Possibly son of John Kinder of Armitage Fold, baptised 1741 and Mary Swallow (1692-1775). Son Paul was born at Armitage Fold.
Banns were read 10 Oct, 27 Oct and 3 Nov 1765 for William Kinder of Armitage Fold and Sarah Taylor of Lockwood.
7 Nov 1765, William Kinder of Armitage Fold married Sarah Taylor of Lockwood, spinster. Paul of Armitage Fold was born early 1767
William was a Clothier at Lockwood (when daughters were baptised). There are other William Kinders of Netherthong and Honley who had Joseph baptised in April 1768 (baptism date too close to be the same father of Mary)
In 1768 and 1770 Mary and John Kinder were born Dungeon (one 1 mile SW of Lockwood).
~1735
Elizabeth

Elizabeth Sykes of Coldhill. Probably James Sykes her marriage witness was an older brother.
1777 - 1842
Hannah
Kinder
64
64
27 Mar 1796, Hannah Kinder married William Liversedge (1773-1827) at Almondbury
In 1841, Hannah Liversedge (65) was a farmer at New Lathe Hill with Joshua and Eliza Halfpenny (25 & 20) and their son Samuel (1). Eliza was possibly her daughter as in 1840 Eliza Liversedge, daughter of William Livesedge, farmer, was living at New Lathe Hill when she married Joshua Winpenny.
1770 - 1858
John
Kinder
87
87
John is the only KINDER family to be founf on the census records at Lockwood.
In 1851, John (81, Head) was an Ag. Labouirer at Moor End, Lockwood with daughter Elizabeth Armitage (53) and her family.
Jan 1858, John Kinder died at Moor End, Lockwood, aged 87
1772
William
Kinder
William Kinder had a brother Joseph who was witness to his marriage. They are both likely to be sons of William of Netherthong, Clothier.
In 1772, William was born at Gill Bridge (?).

Joseph and Sarah were twins, son and daughter of William Kinder of Honley, Dresser, baptised 25 Dec 1771.

25 May 1759, Rebecca, wife of William Kinder of Gills Basks (?) was buried.
Nancy (1765) and William (1772) born Gill Bridge. Where is this? Overlapping Joseph (1868) & Hannah (1773) born at Netherthong is another family.
In 1816, Martha wife of William Kinder died at Honley
D. 1759
Rebecca
Kinder
Rebecca died at Gill Bisks (?, see image) and was buried at Meltham, so she probably was born and lived there. There are many possible birth records.
There is no record of a marriage of Rebecca to William Kinder, but a record of her death (burial) in 1959 and William's re-marriage three years later.
Rebecca may be Elizabeth (?)
1759
Elizabeth

Was Elizabeth Rebecca Kinder's daughter and she died in childbirth, or William's next wife before they married?

John was a Clothier from Armitage Fold. Martha and William were born at Armitage Fold. Mary, Elizabeth and Hannah are recorded as born Crosland, which may be the same place.
John has a brother Lawrence Kinder of Crosland, Clothier, who both had children baptised at Almondbury with abode Crosland. Joseph of Overthong may also have been a brother (TBC). Their father was probably Lawrence Kinder (1689-1746) of Almondbury.

15 Nov 1810, another Sarah married William Dransfield, a Stone Delver (as this Sarah would be too young). "Billy" a fancy weaver and Sarah Sykes (1795-1856) are also another family, both aged 40 in 1841 at Almondbury Bank with Thomas, Joe, Hannah, Samuel and Emma.
25 Sep 1817, Sarah married William Sykes (most likely as they had a son Law Sykes).
In 1832 Elizabeth (b.1826), Hannah (b.1829) and William (b.1831) were all baptised at Bridgehouse St Martin, children of William and Sarah (same family ?).

William
Sykes
WILLIAM or BILLY ? - They is likely two people (as only James referes to his father as Billy, so he may not be a son). Billy Sykes married Sarah Dobson in 1820.
William was a Clothier. He lived at Lower Houses in 1818 and 1825 and Almondbury Bank in 1822 when James was born. Probably the same place (near Longly) as only 600m appart.
William may have been known as Billy. When James Sykes married Elizabeth Sykes in 1844 and later Lizzy Shaw in 1859, he called his father Billy. However, there was a Billy and Satah Sykes family in Amondbury in 1841, but not sure if this is the same family.

James was baptised 30 Jun 1822, the son of Wiliam Sykes a clothier and Sarah. FindAGrave has this James the son of Billy a farmer and Sarah Dobson.
There was another James born 12 Feb and baptised 30 May 1819, also son of William and Sarah, a Cloth Dresser, probably a brother (buried Huddersfield, either 4 Oct 1821, aged 2 or 23 Feb 1821, aged 2)..
3 Nov 1844, James Sykes (22), weaver of Almondbury, son of Billy Sykes a farmer married Elizabeth Sykes (23), daughter of Jonathan Sykes at Almondbury All Hallows.
In 1861, James and Elizabeth has a daughters Mary Ann b.1845 and Ellen b.1852 who were living with their uncle John Sykes (b.1837). This John (who must be a brother) was a Delver from Crossland Edge and was illegetimate aged 27 when he married Ann Wood in 1854. He also has a sister Hannah, so it may be that this James is a different family - TBC
26 Sep 1859, James (37) son of Billy Sykes, clothier was a widower when he married Lizzy Shaw.
James Sykes born 10 Mar and baptised 30 June 1822, son of Billy a farmer is buried 9 April 1890.

20 Nov 1814, Sarah Wood married William Sykes at Huddersfield (and all their children were born there). Ann Wood was witness.
25 May 1817 Mary Ann was baptised at Huddersfield St Peter.
In 1841, William and Sarah Sykes (47 & 49) were with Mary Ann (24), Joseph (20), Lucretia (16), William (14), Martha (12), and George (9)
