Kinder's father was William Liversidge and his mother was Hannah Kinder.  His maternal grandparents were William Kinder and Sarah Taylor. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John, David, Henry, William, Law, Amos, Sarah, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth and Hannah. He had an adopted sister named Eliza.  He died at the age of 85 in December 1892 in Lincolnshire.²
