Rachel's father was Joseph Oxton and her mother was Rachel Williams.  Her maternal grandparents were Samuel Williams and Ann Millington. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, William, Joseph, John, George, Thomas, Anne, Alice, Margaret and Mary.  She was the third youngest of the eleven children.  She died at 9 months old in March 1843 in the Wirral.¹
