Bertha's father was Edward Charles Owen and her mother was Annie Roberts. Her maternal grandparents were Ellis Roberts and Ann (Annie) Jellicoe. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Charles, James, Herbert, Joseph, Sylvia and Ivy. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 85 on May 6th, 1993 in Bromborough.²
