Ellen was born in July 1815 in Billinge and her baptism took place on July 9th, 1815 at St. Aidan (Billinge).1 2  Ellen's father was Edward Moyers and her mother was Tabitha Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Ann Berrington. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Edward, Edward, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Sarah and Jenny.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 61 on February 20th, 1877 in Billinge.  She was buried on February 22nd, 1877 at St. Aidan (Billinge).2 3

‌Ellen and James were married in a religious ceremony on October 4th, 1841 at All Saints (Wigan).2   They had two sons and a daughter, named James, Edward and Tabitha.  There are no more children.
