Edward was born in 1820 in Billinge and his baptism took place on January 26th, 1819 at St. Aidan (Billinge).1  Edward's father was Edward Moyers and his mother was Tabitha Mather.  His maternal grandparents were James Mather and Ann Berrington. He had a brother and six sisters, named Edward, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Sarah, Jenny and Ellen.  He was the youngest of the eight children.
