James Mather

James was born in November 1811 in Billinge and his baptism took place on November 24th, 1811 at St. Aidan (Billinge).^1 2

James' father was Joshua Mather and his mother was Margaret (Peggy) Mather.  His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Ann Berrington. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joshua, William, Peter, Ann, Sarah and Margaret.  He was the third oldest of the seven known children.  He died after 1877.

‌James and Ellen were married in a religious ceremony on October 4th, 1841 at All Saints (Wigan).³   They had two sons and a daughter, named James, Edward and Tabitha.  There are no more children.
