Ann was born in 1808 in Billinge and her baptism took place on March 20th, 1808 at St. Aidan (Billinge).1  Ann's father was Joshua Mather and her mother was Margaret (Peggy) Mather.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Ann Berrington. She had four brothers and two sisters, named James, Joshua, William, Peter, Sarah and Margaret.  She was the oldest of the seven known children.  She died at the age of 68 on April 14th, 1876 in Wigan.2

‌Ann and William were married in a religious ceremony on March 14th, 1841 at St. Mary (Deane).4   They had a biological son and two biological daughters, named William, Margaret and Sarah.  They also had an adopted daughter named Tabitha.  There are no more children.
