Born Wittnall, Lancashire 1817 or 1821 (1851 census), Robert's father was James Mather
18 Oct 1840, Robert married Nancy Turner in Blackburn. Robert and Nancy moved to Preston after they married. Son Thomas was born at Preston about 1845.
In 1851, living in Fishwick, Preston, married to Nancy and with Mather and Turner families.
In 1871, NOT with wife Nancy and daughters.
1879, Robert (unconfirmed) died in Bolton, aged 63
In 1861, living in Preston, married to Ann.
12 July 1878, Robert Mather, (60, Wid), an overlooker, son of James Mather a weaver, married Mary Sharples (45, Wid) at Bolton Holy Trinity. Both were living in Lever Street. Robert died the following year, and his daugher Alice married at the same church (before he died).
