Ann was born in 1832 in Withnell.1 Ann's father was James Mather and her mother was Nanny (Ann) Miner. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Peggy Duerden. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, James, Jonathan, Peggy, Hannah, Esther and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the eight children.General Notes
